Barrier-free beach access is available at the beaches Hooksiel (beach ticket office 1, near the outer harbour), Horumersiel (height of children's playhouse) and in Schillig. At the Horumersiel Tourist Information and at the Hooksiel campsite, you can obtain a certificate (on presentation of a disabled person's card) that entitles you to drive to the beach by car to get as close to the water as possible.
Since 2018, Schillig has had two wooden jetties that allow disabled people, elderly people (e.g. also with walking frames), wheelchair users or families with prams and handcarts to get close to the water without any problems. Benches at the edge of the jetties invite you to take a break. At the end of each beach access there is a large platform as an ideal starting point for guided mudflat walks and extended beach walks. Wind-protected areas allow relaxed views of the tidal flats, the sea or the offshore islands. In addition, tidal flat mobile homes are available at the platforms for barrier-free tidal flat walks. Furthermore, the guests will find information boards about the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Wadden Sea, the local flora and fauna and the fascinating bird migration.
