For around a century now, the harbour has been the beating heart of Neuharlingersiel, with local shanty choirs singing here every Sunday morning during the season. On other days, you can simply sit back and enjoy an East Frisian tea or a Frisian beer, chatting and watching the comings and goings at the harbour – the cutters getting tied up neatly at the dock, for example, or the shrimpers scrubbing the decks, patching their nets and giving their boats a new lick of paint.
The fishing village of Neuharlingersiel was first documented more than 300 years ago, and since this time the harbour has changed tremendously. Yet it remains what it always has been: the heart of Neuharlingersiel and the gateway to the sea. Its idyllic character makes it perfect for relaxing and enjoying a stroll. Treat yourself to a fish roll, some musical entertainment or a boat trip.
Every Sunday during the season you can enjoy traditional harbour concerts in the shell-shaped bandstand at the harbour. From shanty choirs and schlager crooners to jazz bands, this event creates a very special atmosphere in the idyllic harbour and emphasises the proximity to the North Sea. On selected dates, the bandstand is used for charity concerts that fill the harbour with delightful music.
