The Eifel

National Park ‘Gates’

information on barrier-free facilities

There are five visitor centres in the Eifel National Park, known as National Park ‘Gates’, in Simmerath-Rurberg, Schleiden-Gemünd, Monschau-Höfen, Nideggen and at Heimbach station. These centres offer information and exhibitions about the Eifel National Park. They are also an ideal starting point from which to venture out into the countryside.

All exhibitions:
provide step-free access
have disabled-friendly bathroom facilities
offer films with subtitles and sign language interpreters for the deaf or hard of hearing

The centres at Höfen and Nideggen offer the following additional services:
high-contrast, tactile guidance systems at floor level
information is also available in the form of audio guides in four languages.
special sensory stations (smell, touch and hearing) allow the exhibition to be enjoyed in different ways.

The exhibition at the National Park ‘Gate’ in Heimbach features special resources for the blind:
samples to touch
an audio story to accompany the visit
information in braille as well as ordinary print.

Information on the content of all the National Park ‘Gate’ exhibitions can be found online at www.nationalpark-eifel.de in the National Park-Gates section.
