The Magdeburg Zoo

Children up to the age of 15 receive free admission to the zoo. This is a completely new strategy that is unique in European zoos and a clear sign of more equal opportunities in times of child poverty in Germany and the existing pent-up demand for environmental education. In the next few years, the zoo will push zoo pedagogy and plan an environmental education center. Magdeburg Zoo is aware of its role in environmental education work and the necessary educational work for species protection.

In addition to this child-friendly price adjustment, the zoo is simplifying its pricing structure. In the future there will be no family tickets, as the children can visit the zoo for free anyway. Adults pay a day entry from 15 euros and the reduced day entry costs 11 euros at the zoo ticket office. Persons accompanying disabled persons receive free admission (note "B" in the pass). Dogs are permitted.

The 50 acres of manicured parkland is home to over 1,000 animals representing 223 species, including many rare, endangered species such as black rhino, Siberian tiger, northern monkey, and more.
