Magdeburg Cathedral is the city's most famous landmark: the first Gothic cathedral to be built in Germany and still one of the biggest churches in the country.
A must-see for visitors to the city, this ensemble of irregularly shaped facades and modern design – an attraction, fantasy building and work of art rolled into one – was one of the last architectural works created by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
