St. - Petri - Church Westerstede

The St. - Petri - Church is located in the middle of the village centre of Westerstede. With its distinctive 48-metre-high tower, it is not only the oldest building, but also the landmark of the town of Westerstede and the largest church in the Ammerland region. In this almost 900 years old church (1123) contemporary witnesses from the different periods have been preserved in their characteristics: The organ of the St.-Petri-Church was built in 1971, but the organ case is originally from 1876. It is a historically built baroque organ with a north German sound concept. The baptismal font dates from 1648 and is carved from a single tree trunk.
