Palatinate Chestnut Days

October 1 - November 15, 2024

"The chestnut is the best example of the southern climate," said Bavarian King Ludwig I, who had hundreds of sweet chestnuts planted around his summer residence Villa Ludwigshöhe near Edenkoben. The tree species is considered climate-tolerant, heat-loving and adaptable - so it could play an increasingly important role in the forest in times of climate change.

From October 1 to November 15, when chestnuts are ripe, they will be in the spotlight along the Southern Wine Route. During the Chestnut Days, many restaurants offer culinary highlights around the Keschde, including many barrier-free establishments.
