Altes Kurhaus in Bad Zwischenahn

In 1874, the Old Kurhaus was built as a "spa and bathing establishment". In former times there were also lounging halls in an annex and two further spa buildings, which no longer exist today.

During the Second World War the Old Kurhaus was used as a military hospital and later it was the headquarters of the Allies.
In 1961 the present Reha Centre was opened.
In 1995/1996 there were the first plans for an oncological clinic, but the owner Niemoeller had to close the clinic at the end of 1997 because the Old Kurhaus was taken out of the hospital requirement plan by the state of Lower Saxony and there was no more financial support.

Today the building is a listed building and is owned by the municipality. Since 2000, the library by the sea, the community archive and the senior citizens' meeting place have been established here. In addition, today you will find the restaurant "Oscars" with a beautiful sea view.
Since 2008, the Office for Social Affairs and Employment has been located on the upper floor.
The large Hall of Mirrors on the ground floor of the Old Kurhaus can be used for your celebrations, conferences and weddings.
