Integrative eco station
on Lake Rothsee
There is so much to see, do and discover at the new Umweltstation (eco station) situated right on the edge of Lake Roth in the heart of the Franconian Lakes.
The building, outdoor grounds and activities are designed to be enjoyed by people both with and without disabilities, and to teach them about nature, the environment and sustainable living.
The programme of activities covers a wide range of topics, including the natural habitats of water, sand, meadows and hedgerows as well as climate, energy, food, fair trade and team building. The station also runs hands-on activities that help develop skills and personal values.
The German Commission for UNESCO chose Lake Roths eco station to be an official project of the UN decade of education for sustainable development. "The eco station is a compelling example of what sustainable education can look like. The panel of judges voted for the facility because it gives people a solid understanding of sustainable practices," said Professor Gerhard de Haan, Chairman of the National Committee of the UN decade in Germany and a member of the judging panel.

Lake cruises
The discovery cruise on Lake Brombachsee runs daily from April to October and lasts for 90 minutes. There is also a range of exciting special events. The three-hulled ship has a ramp built into the bow, while the glass-fronted panorama lift offers easy access to all decks.
